Surrogate compensation is structured around three key components: base pay, additional benefits, and case-by-case allowances.
Role of location and experience factors in base pay
Base compensation is generally consistent across states, with California being an exception due to its higher cost of living. It may be higher for experienced surrogates, as having completed a previous journey shows that the process has already been successfully navigated.

What goes under additional benefits?
Beyond base compensation, all costs related to the journey are covered — including medical screening, legal support, insurance, childcare, travel, and lost wages, along with additional payments at key milestones.

What sort of benefits and allowances are allocated case by case?
